Early on the waves
As usual, we had another early start in the morning. The ferry to Coron was departing at 8:20am, and we had to be there an hour before. Knowing this, we got up a bit earlier than that, had some breakfast at the hostel, then got ourselves to the pier. The pier was right next to the beach we were at yesterday, in the centre of town. We checked into our ferry to Coron, along with the hundreds of other tourists, had a brief bag inspection, and then waited to board.

The long line of tourists shuffled towards the ferry, and before long, we were en route to Coron. It’s further than I expected, taking about 5 hours in total to get there. As per usual, I slept through most of it, not much else to do. At least the weather was nice and the seas were kind. Once we got off, we had to have a coronavirus temperature check, the first since Singapore. At this point, no one reckoned much to the coronavirus, no one I saw wore a mask. Then we got a tricycle to the hostel.
Settling into the island
Our hostel was quite close to the centre of Coron town, on the main road, so we had everything at our disposal. As of the writing of this article, this hostel, as well as a few others, no longer exist, most likely due to the lockdowns during COVID-19. It was a nice hostel, had everything we needed, and the staff we lovely and welcoming. We went for a walk down the road and had some dinner along the way, pretty decent view of the town and sea. Whilst we were out, we booked a snorkelling tour for tomorrow which would visit several different sites. Hopefully similar or better than in El Nido.
We experienced a really nice sunset at he harbour, where we stayed until it was dark. The background of mountains and islands produced some great silhouettes with the orange sunset behind. On the way back home, we grabbed a nice waffle with ice cream for dessert, and then chilled at the hostel. The ferry to Coron took it out of me, even though I slept and it wasn’t too intense! I called my brother and his wife and managed to see my little niece, so cute!
